WHAT ALL BOLLYWOOD STAR KIDS HAVE IN COMMON :
A SUCCESSFUL WEIGHT LOSS STORY BEFORE A DEBUT …
Forget nepotism for a moment.
Think of how strange a coincidence it is that most of the star kids of the entertainment industry have debuted with a massive success story — notwithstanding the performance of their Bollywood debut at the box-office — their successful weight-loss journey.
Sara Ali Khan
Sara Ali Khan surprised all with her throwback click on Instagram. The ‘Simmba’ actress had revealed on a TV show that she used to weigh 96 kgs and losing weight was tough for her as she suffered PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome). There came a point when her own mother failed to recognise her at the airport and that’s when Sara decided to concentrate on weight loss. With help from the right trainers, Sara’s transformation has been inspirational.
Sara lost weight while she was studying at the Columbia University. “It took me about a year-and-half to lose that weight. So, I completed the remaining two years of my graduation in a year so that I can return and start working early. I was always a chubby girl, but after going to the States, for the first two years, I put on a lot of weight and then last year, I burned all those kilos there itself,” Sara said.
she continued – “However, the journey was not at all easy . I was seduced by pizzas and chocolates at every step of the way. “Jahaan aapko pizza milta hain, wahin aapko protein milta hain. Jahaan pe chocolate milta hain, wahin aapko salad milta hain (You get pizzas right where they sell protein, chocolates right where they sell salads). That was it. So, I lost all the weight that I had gained there and lots more by working out and maintaining a disciplined life,”
Alia Bhatt
Millennial sensation Alia Bhatt used to be a chubby kid. But before she transformed into the envious Shanya for her debut ‘Student of the Year’, the actress was asked to lose 20 kgs in six months by director Karan Johar. Alia hit the gym, coupled it with a healthy diet and shed 16 kgs in just three months. The actress continues to indulge in gym workouts and Pilates to maintain her figure.
She said :- “It was sheer pain. I felt as if I was an ugly duckling. At first, I was embarrassed, but later felt angry that I had gone to meet a director in the shape I was in. I decided to shed weight first, meet him and take the role. Only that would redeem my self-respect.”
But movie stars have to live a disciplined life, and she soon learned to eat everything in moderation. She consumes 6-8 meals and includes a source of protein, healthy fats, veggies, fruits, and fresh fruit juices in her diet. She revealed in an interview, “I make it a point to have eight meals a day. That way, I can limit my portion sizes and food gets digested easily. This diet has worked for me.”
Arjun Kapoor
Arjun went through a tough struggle with his super extra pounds, so much so that, he couldn’t fit into any airline seats. The junior Kapoor was highly motivated and guided by Bollywood fitness pro Salman Khan. He followed a disciplined diet and workout plans.
He lost 10 kgs in a month’s time, which was due to water loss and unhealthy. However, his journey got tougher after that. Not giving up and self-belief are the biggest challenges that helped him to achieve a chiselled six-pack.
Finally, after 4 years of tussling weight loss journey, he successfully transformed himself from being sloppy 140 to sexy 87. I am sure it wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t impossible either. If Arjun Kapoor achieved it all, you too can do it!
Arjun followed regular workouts for 6 days a week without complaints. He targeted on achievable goals of losing 2 kgs every month and challenged his own goals.
Sonakshi Sinha
From a plump kid to a hot diva, Sonakshi Sinha has now become a fitness icon for many. Sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise and love for junk food were the main reasons behind her plump figure. But, with strenuous workout and diet plan, she got rid of her extra weight.
When the news of her Bollywood debut made rounds in the tinsel town, she immediately hogged the limelight mainly because of two reasons. Firstly, for being the daughter of a veteran actor- Shatrughan Sinha. And secondly, for being launched opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg.

The actress lost almost 30 kgs before entering Bollywood. However, losing weight was not an easy task for her. Still, she got into shape by following some simple mantras
In fact, she is thankful to her co-star Salman Khan, for motivating her to shed that extra weight. It was due to his motivation that the actress lost 30 kgs for her first movie. She says, “He saw potential in me and egged me on to lose weight. I would say his contribution was the highest as I started taking it seriously only after he told me to.”
Parineeti Chopra
Parineeti has been working very hard on her body and doing workouts regularly for several months now. The actor keeps an open mind when it comes to her workouts. When she started, she opted for mixed workouts so that she didn’t get bored of doing just 1 thing.
She found regular gym routine very bore but hit the treadmill quite often. She goes for swimming and does a form of Kerala martial arts called Kalaripayattu. She does it every day for an hour. It has made her more flexible, stronger, and has also helped build her stamina.
The key is to stay active, experiment with new forms, create a balance and find the motivation to workout regularly. Consistency is the key and while she is at it, she tries to enjoy herself. In one of her interviews, she said – “We always aim to get thin. But that’s not enough. We should feel fit from the inside. I was unfit and overweight. Now as I am losing weight and getting fitter, I should soon be where I want to be.”
“ The struggle you’re in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow. Don’t give up. “
So we can say that it’s not being easy for any star kids to be in bollywood without doing any hardwork they just not stayed in bollywood in the name of nepotism but they also worked really hard on themselves to maintain that stardom and popularity and respect in the eye of the world.
