L​ove transcends everything; and when it comes to interfaith marriages our Bollywood celebrities do not shy from thinking about converting to their beloved’s religion. 

Manyata Dutt

Manyata Dutt(Dilnawaz Sheikh) debuted with Movie Gangajal changed to Hinduism from Muslim to marry Sanjay Dutt in 2008. She is now CEO of Sanjay Dutt Production.

Hazel Keech

Hazel keech who is from british origin and now following sikhism after married to Yuvraj Singh in 2016. Her new name is Gurbasat Kaur.

Ayesha Takia

Ayesha Takia changed her religion when she got married to her longtime boyfriend Farhan Azmi. Farhan is a restaurateur and son of Samajwadi Party legislator Abu Azmi. The couple got married in a traditional Islamic wedding ceremony on March 1, 2009. 

Amrita Singh

Initially born in a Sikh family, Amrita Singh was raised a Sikh. She made headlines when she changed her religion and got married to the young Pataudi Nawab— Saif Ali Khan in a traditional Islamic way in 1991.

Sharmila Tagore

Before making it big in Bollywood Sharmila Tagore was a Bengali actress. Her relationship with Indian Cricketer and former Indian Captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the Nawab of Pataudi was once the talk of the town. The couple got married in a traditional Nikah in 1969. Sharmila converted to Islam and she is also known as Begum Ayesha Sultana. 

Nargis Dutt

Yesteryears’ heartthrob— Nargis Dutt married co-star Sunil Dutt in 1958. Nargis was raised as a Muslim who fell in love with Sunil Dutt, who was a Hindu and her co-star in the movie ‘Mother India’. She boldly grasped Hinduism and even embraced a Hindu name, Nirmala Dutt.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

Born in a Punjabi family Kareena Kapoor was already one of the reigning actresses in Bollywood when she got involved with actor Saif Ali Khan, Nawab of Pataudi. Their relationship was a tabloid fodder for five years already when the couple decided to tie the knot in 2012. Officially, Kareena has added Khan to her name but is a not practicing Muslim.

Dharmendra and Hema Malini

Hema Malini and Dharmendra, both were attracted to each other and wanted to get married. Dharmendra, who was already married to Prakash Kaur could not marry Hema as Prakash refused to divorce him. According to the Hindu Marriage Act, a Hindu cannot marry a second time while the first wife is still alive.On August 21, 1979, both  Dharmendra and Hema Malini converted to Islam. They changed their names to Aisha Bi R. Chakravarty and Dilawar Khan Kewal Krishn respectively and got married in accordance with Islamic rites.

Divya Bharti

Divya Bharti was one of the most beautiful actresses of all time. In May 1992, Divya settled in with filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala for seven rounds. She got converted to Islam and got the name Sana after marrying famous director Sajid Nadiadwala.
