Rhea Chakraborty taken to Byculla jail women’s facility after her bail plea was rejected last night
Rhea Chakraborty was arrested yesterday under various sections of the NPDS, filed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Rhea Chakraborty’s arrest comes after her third round of questioning, going on for three days in a row, all lasting for 6-8 hours each. She has been taken to Mumbai’s Byculla Jail this morning after her bail plea was rejected last night. She will have to be in jail for 14 days and she is expected to request a sessions court for bail today. Rhea spent last night at the Narcotics Control Bureau office last night. The Byculla jail is the only prison for women in Mumbai. Big personalities who have been arrested for high-profile cases are currently in the same jail like Sheena Bora murder accused Indrani Mukerjea and activist Sudha Bhardwaj, arrested in the Koregaon-Bhima case. Rhea Chakraborty has been charged with organizing drugs for her boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput. However, there is no mention in the court papers of her using drugs.
Bombay High Court orders BMC to stop demolition of Kangana Ranaut’s office; actress says, ‘This is what fascism looks like’
Earlier today, 9th September, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished what they claim to be an unauthorised construction in Kangana Ranaut’s Mumbai office. The demolition job came after Kangana’s office was stamped with a legal notice yesterday, 8th September. However, the Queen actress soon moved the Bombay High Court as she alleged this to be a vindictive move on the part of the BMC at the behest of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and the Maharashtra State Government, following her comment comparing Mumbai to PoK. And the Bombay HC has responded positively to her plea issuing a stay order on the demolition activity that was underway by the BMC.
Rhea Chakraborty arrest: ‘The only drug dealers/users in India are women,’ says South actress Parul Yadav
The recent arrest of Rhea Chakraborty in the ongoing Shushant Singh Rajput case has polarised opinion throughout the country. Add to that actresses Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani’s arrests by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in another hotly followed case, the Sandalwood drug scandal, and you have several people questioning the not-so-veiled patriarchy behind these so-called drug busts. In fact, many celebs have also taken to social media to share an ongoing trend called ‘Roses are red, violets are blue, let’s smash patriarchy, me and you,’ which again, has drawn flak from other sections on social media, who don’t see anything patriarchal about these crackdowns.
Now South actress Parul Yadav has also posted some smartly sarcastic comments on these arrests, expressing solidarity with Rhea Chakraborty, Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani. Taking to her official Twitter handle, she wrote: “Finally the fight for #genderequality has been won!! I am all for cleansing societal evils and drug abuse must be dealt with firmly but apparently the only drug dealers/ users in India are three women.. no one else – no corporate execs, business people, sportspeople or even male actors is doing/ dealing drugs… should we celebrate winning the gender equality fight or should we cry at how easy it is to prey on some of us.. @narcoticsbureau #Drugsmafia #NCB #SandalwoodDrugMafia ”. Her tweets have gone viral in not time. Check them out below:
