The annual refresh of the iPhone is one of the biggest events in technology. It’s the phone that many aspire to own, one that sets trends and the phone that all others are looking to better.
The phone was earlier rumored to release in March. However, the coronavirus pandemic pushed likely the launch date. Now it’s finally here. Apple has just released its iPhone SE (2020) — a sequel to the 2016 iPhone SE. The much-awaited compact phone has a 4.7-inch screen and a starting price tag of $399 for a version with 64GB of storage.

The new iPhone SE looks almost exactly like the iPhone8, which means it has a 4.7-inch screen and has the same glass design, with a home button and Touch ID instead of Face ID.

There’s a single 12-megapixel camera lens on the back (along with a flash). It has also improved its Smart HDR photography, which combines multiple shots into a single photo to improve lighting and detail.
I really want to try the camera on the #iPhoneSE… it’s not the sensor, it’s all the A13 Bionic’s tech that has the potential to make it a real winner. Apple totally taking the fight to Google on great quality single-lens cams, I think:#iPhoneSE2020https://t.co/GuKoL9ijPV

There is a portrait mode with a technology called “monocular depth-sensing”, which uses machine learning to detect depth and faces.

It includes optical image stabilization, and Apple says it can do “cinematic” stabilization on video as well as support 4K video at 60fps.
It is available for preorder this Friday, April 17th, and it will ship on April 24th. There will be a 128GB model offered for $449 and a 256GB model for $549. Like other iPhones, it will come with a free year of Apple TV Plus. It will come in black, white, and Product Red.
Though, the second-generation Apple iPhone SE is finally official. The device is aimed at users who want a smaller smartphone and can’t afford Apple’s usual prices. That said, the new SE isn’t particularly cheap in India and starts at ₹42,500 in the country. While the company announced pre-order dates in the US, beginning from April 17, there’s no availability date for India at the moment.
However, the company is introducing a new phone into a weak global economy. Its launch also marks the first time that Apple has released an iPhone while most of its retail stores are closed and many of its employees are developing devices from home.
The segment Apple caters will supposedly have more capacity to bear the stress that is likely to happen due to macroeconomic challenges. But, still there will some segment which will look for cheaper alternatives curtailing their budgets.
