When the men in blue and the men in green meet on the cricket ground, both the countries feel an adrenaline rush. India and Pakistan, since from partition, have shared a mixed relationship.
Marriages are made in heaven, and, this has been proved by some famous celebrities who got married across the border. These people broke all barriers and found their cross border love interest.
India and Pakistan are arch-rivals on the cricket field and on the terrestrial front. Bad blood brews between the two nations on a daily basis, to an extent that India has severed all sporting ties with Pakistan on bilateral cases.
There have been cricketers in both these sides who have had love affairs, marriages, and even marry twice.
At a time when Indo-Pak relations are not on most cordial terms, few famous families have taken a step to further friendship between the two nations. Let’s have a look.
Hasan Ali
Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali bid goodbye to bachelorhood in style as he got married to Indian national Shamia Arzoo, (a Faridabad-based flight engineer) in a glittering ceremony in Dubai in 2019. Hasan Ali’s wife Shamia resides in Mewat, a district in the state of Haryana, met him during a random dinner in Dubai. Impressed with her honesty, Hasan Ali courted Shamia and sent a marriage proposal to her, which was duly accepted.
Social media was rife with pictures of the couple’s wedding photographs, which was conducted during the nuptials.

Though Ali had even invited cricketers from India and Pakistan for his wedding ceremony, however, none from India and only Shadab Khan from Pakistan could make it to the event. The Pakistani cricketers failed to attend the event because of their ongoing training camp under former captain Misbah-ul-Haq.
Wasim Akram
The list of the finest cricketers in the world would be incomplete without an ardent mention of the Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram. Wasim Akram is quite rightfully one of the most exceptional bowlers in the sport and the pioneer behind the reverse swing bowling. First as a cricketer and then as a commentator, Wasim Akram has always been the best face for cricket. One of the best pacers the world has ever seen.
Be it on-field or off-field, he is known for his soft and affable persona. When we take a look at his love life and his marriages, Wasim has been married not once but twice. Wasim Akram first married to psychologist Huma Mufti in 1995. Sadly, in 2009, she died due to severe health issues like multiple organ failures. He got married for the second time with Shaniera Thompson, a former public relations consultant.
Shoaib Malik
Well, this one is a bouncer.
Indian Tennis superstar Sania Mirza and veteran Pakistani batsman Shoaib Malik got married in 2010, and they got blessed with a son in 2018, named Izhaan. The celebrity couple recently celebrated their 10 years of togetherness.
Nobody knew that Shoaib was married to another woman before he got married to the world’s best tennis player, Sanya Mirza. After the players got married, a woman named Ayesha Siddiqui lodged a complaint stating that she and Shoaib got married in 2002. They later got divorced.
Mohsin Khan
Mohsin and Reena had a straightforward private wedding supposedly held at Karachi in Pakistan. The initial years post-wedlock were bliss. Mohsin owned a large manor in London and the couple would often keep shuttling between their houses in England and Pakistan while sometimes making a stopover at Mumbai to meet Reena’s mother.
Reena and Mohsin were eventually blessed with a daughter, whom they named Jannat, and that completed their family picture. But unfortunately, they got separated and took divorce.
Getting married to an actor or cricketer is a personal choice and when there are two stars in question it becomes easier to deal with all the attention. It has been said that the understanding becomes easier when cricketers and actors get married.
Sometimes on the field and sometimes in real life, making mistakes is in human nature. Once or twice, it does not matter as long as everyone is happy. We hope that these cricketers are now happy in their married lives.
