T he world of glamour is an attractive place for all of us. We see the celebs who enjoy stardom and lead a lifestyle that is to die for. In fact, like many commoners, they also face social evils like domestic violence and abuse.

There are so many Bollywood actresses and celebrities who have had to go through abusive relationship. Let’s take a look at some famous people who have bravely spoken about their own experiences.

Kangana Ranaut-Aditya Pancholi

Kangana was dating Aditya Pancholi, a man 20 years her senior . But, soon things turned bitter between them. It was reported that when he was dating Pooja Bedi, he was alleged to have raped her fifteen year old maid. Later, while he was having an affair with Kangana Ranaut, he was reported to have assaulted her physically.

Aditya apparently, barged into Kangana’s apartment, roughed her up, and destroyed her property. She filed a complaint against him, but he got scot-free.

Zeenat Aman-Sanjay Khan

This duo would often have violent squabbles even in public. The greatest shock was when Sanjay Khan was reported to have brutally assaulted Zeenat Aman in a five star hotel at a party. In fact it was said that he would beat her up and had once even injured her eye badly. The relationship came to an end after this but she still bears the physical evidence of this assault on one of her eyes.

She then got married to Mazhar Khan , who also subjected her to domestic violence.

Priety Zinta-Ness Wadia

You won't realize that the popular Bollywood on-screen character, Preity was dating Ness Wadia for quite some time. In the middle of a particular gathering 'Ness Wadia' physically mishandled Preity Zinta and also slapped her.

According to eye-witnesses and a complaint filed by Preity at the police station, she claimed that her ex-boyfriend, Ness Wadia assaulted her,

Aishwarya Rai-Salman Khan

The love affair of this couple was always the talk of the B-Town. However, there were many times the stories of physical fights of Salman with the most beautiful and talented Aishwarya Rai, popping around.

In an interview with the leading newspaper Times of India, she admitted saying:

“After we broke up, he would call me and talk rubbish. He also suspected me of having affairs with my co-stars. I was linked with everyone, from Abhishekh to Aamir to Shah Rukh. There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks. And I would go to work as if nothing had happened.”

Yukta Mookhey-Prince Tulli

The ex-Miss Universe got hitched with Price Tulli. After a couple of years of the wedding, and a kid later, she recorded evidence against him for beating her . She claimed that her husband Prince Tulli would often beat her up.

It had taken a great deal of courage for her to file this case and separate from her husband , as she also had her toddler son to take care of.

Pooja Bhatt-Ranvir Shorey

An actor and former VJ, Ranvir Shorey was once accused of assaulting Pooja Bhatt and wounding her lips , when he was in a brief relationship with her.

The whole issue apparently happened just because she stopped him to have more drink as he had already had enough . This also resulted in a brawl between Rahul Bhatt (Pooja Bhatt’s younger brother) and Ranvir Shorey.

Rati Agnihotri-Anil Virwani

Actress Rati Agnihotri file a complaint with police in Mumbai accusing her husband of domestic violence and intimidation .

The beautiful actress married “Anil Virwani” in 1985 filed a complaint against him saying he had mentally tortured her besides assaulting her physically .

Shweta Tiwari-Raja Chaudhary

Raja Chaudhary, a Bhojpuri film actor and producer, is more popular for his frequent violent behavior, especially with his ex-wife Shweta Tiwari, than his acting skills.

In an interview with Times of India, Shweta revealed all about the physical violence she faced from her ex-husband Raja. She was even quoted as saying:

“Kitna tolerate kiya tha. He burnt my wrists with cigarettes. He picked up and threw me against the walls. He used to physically and verbally abuse me in front of my parents.”

Deepshikha Nagpal-Kaishav Arora

Popular actress Deepshikha Nagpal who married a model cum actor, Kaishav Arora was alleged of domestic violence . She alleged that she was being abused with the use of blades and other such things. The actress said that he even threatened to kill her!

She filed a police complaint and recorded evidence against him in court. Her divorce battle with Kaishav was very tough as he was asking her for 1.5 crores, which she cannot afford. Later on it was settled by the court.

Jiah Khan-Sooraj Pancholi

The performing artist Jiah was dating Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi, who physically and rationally tormented her great deal. She became so upset by the turn of events in their relationship that she committed suicide.

Presently, Sooraj is being confronted on a variety of issues and the argument documented against him for the equity of Jiah Khan.

Rich or poor, ordinary or beautiful, famous or not-so-famous, no woman deserves to be physically abused by her partner. It’s a shame that abusing women in our society is taken as a sign of masculinity . And even some of the celebrities who we admire so much and often look up to them, fail to stand up to our expectations when they abuse their wives or girlfriends.
