Ramayan: Fans of the Jodi of Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia will get to see them in the Ganpati special being organized by a top channel.
The lockdown showed us the power of the divine. Yes, India’s TV audiences gave a resounding thumbs up to Ramayan. The show got staggering views with over 77 million viewers watching the re-run of the old Ramayan. It was a treat for people of all generations. We revisited the magic of the Sundays of our childhood when people did get in front of the TV to watch the mythological saga. Well, the re-run of the show also brought the limelight on the star cast of the show. Even youngsters showered love on Arun Govil, Dipika Chikhalia, and Sunil Lehri who formed part of the main star cast.
Now, Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia have come together once again. It is for the Ganesh Chaturthi special of Star Plus. As we know, Star Plus is having a Ganeshotsav special with some of the top stars. A video has been released by the channel where we can see them looking really good in Indian wear. Arun Govil is wearing a maroon sherwani with pants and a brocade jacket. Dipika Chikhlia is in a lehenga with lots of jewelry. Her outfits are in hues of pink, gold, and magenta. They will dance on the song, Deva O Deva.
The two were loved by the young audience as well. In an interview with BollywoodLife, Sunil Lehri told us, “We never expected this. The original show did not get as much viewership as this re-run in the lockdown. When we heard that Doordarshan was planning to bring it back, we were like, okay. The response has left us shaken and happy at the same time. Ramanand Sagar Ji was a visionary for his times. But he was the coolest filmmaker/director I ever worked with. Shooting a saga as Ramayan came with unexpected problems, at times, but he was never stressed out. The people from Doordarshan would be worried as a missed telecast would lead to huge protests but he never took any tension.”
