Caucasian Shepherd
Caucasian Shepherd is also known as Caucasian Ovcharka. They are fearless and fierce when they see a threat, but very devoted, soft and kind to his own family. It is a low-activity dog, seemingly lethargic when not working, but noisy and intimidating when it feels its family is threatened.
These dogs were bred to help shepherds in the Caucasus Mountain region keep their flocks safe from predators like wolves and bears.
They were used for centuries to protect properties and guard livestock. Caucasian Ovcharka won’t back down from a fight even against bears of wolves. They are not a good choice for a first-time dog owner.
FUN FACTS: Traditionally, the ears of this breed are cropped.
