India is a country, where people spend thousands of rupees on puja and on the so-called “baba’s” in the name of god. In a very short span of time we got through many self-proclaimed Godman who has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. They are an extremely high profile and have a rich personality. They are not lesser than the celebrities; they keep bodyguards and wear expensive clothes.
ASARAM BAPU
Asaram is known as” Bapuji” by his followers. He has 425 ashramas and 50 Gurukuls all over India. He created a controversy when he made a remark in the Nirbhaya case. As he said, the girl could have begged and should have called them brothers to save her. Besides this, he was even accused of raping a minor girl from his ashram. Asharam is accused of extortion and land grabbing cases also and he was behind the bars for a long while.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh insaan
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, Leader of Dera Sacha Sauda, is already serving a 20-year prison sentence for raping his two female followers. After his conviction, there were riots all over Haryana. Even some policemen were caught in possession of illegal arms and ammunitions. And many innocent people lost their lives.

She got married at the age of 17, but after a few years of marriage, her husband left her and she was drawn to spirituality at a very early age. And then she introduced herself as Radhe Maa. She came to the limelight when her dancing video with one of her disciples started going viral. It was very indecent and generated lots of controversies. Many cases are registered against her.

Paramahamsa Nithyananda
Paramahamsa is a Hindu spiritual leader and the founder of Nithyananda Dhyanpeetam and even listed as one of the 100 most influential spiritual people. But he came into limelight when one of his female followers accused him of raping her. He got exposed and he went missing, but later he was arrested. He also used to exploit women by signing a contract forcefully and after that, he used to torture them.

Sathya sai baba is one of the most popular Baba all over India, he died in 2001. He did charity work like built a multi-specialty hospital for the weaker sections of society. But besides this many people have questioned his “tricks” that he used to perform in front of his followers, like producing gold ornaments and Vibhuti from thin air. There was controversy regarding the misuse of funds in the name of donations.

Self-styled godman of Bigg Boss fame, Om Baba is a controversial figure and claims of devoting his life to serving the country. He has been into controversy during a show on a news channel when he slapped a female astrologer. And not only this many complaints are registered towards him regarding his misbehavior.

Nirmaljeet well-known godman of India, known as Nirmal baba by his followers. “Third eye of Nirmal Baba” is the name of the Samagam organized by him. He is being criticized for collecting the money from the person (2000) each for attending his samagam and 10 % salary of the person who follows him. Many cases are filed against him for cheating people and taking money from them in the name of donation.
Ichadari Sant Swami Bhimchand
He is known as a follower of Sai Baba, he started his journey as a security guard in a 5-star hotel. He came into limelight when he was exposed of running a prostitution racket .
Sant Rampal
Sant Rampal is the founder of Satlok ashram. A self-styled Godman, lives a luxurious life not less than a celebrity. His supporters created lots of riots and even convicted of an attempt to murder case. He has missed 43 court appearances till now.
Swami Premananda
This controversial baba is a Tamilian from Sri Lanka. He set up an ashram mainly for women and the orphans. He was convicted of raping 13 girls from his ashram and even murdered his disciple. He died in 2011.
India is a religious country and these Godmen takes advantage of this situation. In spite of all the accusations still, people follow them and spent huge money.
Have faith in God but don’t let these godmen’s fooling you in the name of religion.
